This World Cancer Day we were invited by our friends at Macmillan Cancer Support to a roundtable with The Rt. Hon. Wes Streeting, MP, Secretary of State for Health & Social Care. It was an amazing opportunity to help make sure that the future of cancer care is shaped by community groups like Trekstock and those with lived experience.
Trekstock Joins Forces with Macmillan: Empowering Young People Facing Cancer
On 4th February, Trekstock's Founder & CEO Sophie joined Macmillan Cancer Support, Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, Wes Streeting MP, Journalist Nick Robinson, and fellow charities for a World Cancer Day event. The roundtable discussion explored key elements of the National Cancer Strategy, highlighting the importance of personalised care and wellbeing for young adults facing cancer.
Sophie shared Trekstock's dedication to tailored care and integrative oncology – an approach combining traditional treatments with complementary therapies. She emphasised that "by addressing patients' unique challenges, we empower our community to lead fulfilling lives through treatment and beyond."
Collaborating with Macmillan, NHS professionals, and these inspiring organisations, Trekstock remains committed to providing comprehensive support for young people impacted by cancer. Personalised care is crucial for improving outcomes and enhancing quality of life.
It was great to see friends Toral Shah and charities such as Alike, Shine Cancer Support, Ellen MacArthur Cancer Trust, Teenage Cancer Trust, and The Leanne Pero Foundation being represented. Together, we can make a positive difference in the lives of young people facing cancer.
