The Charity’s success is an inspirational template of how to market to teenagers;
traditionally a hard to reach age group. It is a warm and inviting brand, conveying a positive message that celebrities all over the world from Kings of Leon to Oasis have been proud to support it since its humble beginnings. Through affiliations with music and fashion – we aim to provide a platform to reach and educate young people and raise money for a very worthwhile cause.

Trekstock’s new charity partner Cancer Research UK has recognised the Trekstock charity’s potential to reach young people, to educate them and make them aware of issues that unfortunately can be so vital in their lives, yet in a cool way that they can relate to.

Trekstock ♥’s The Low Anthem

img_50021

February 11th was a very special eve indeed for Trekstock!

Off we went to the O2 Empire in Shepherds Bush to see the incredible Low Anthem and our good friend Ludovic captured the spirit of the gig for us in the wonderful review below…

Low Anthem O2 Shepherds Bush Empire – Thursday, 11.02.2010

‘For a band often described as fitting better small intimate venues, a packed Shepherd’s Bush Empire (the biggest enclosed venue the Low Anthem performed in the UK to date) can be somewhat, in the words of Ben Miller himself, quite ‘overwhelming’….Yet the Trio from Rhode Island delivered another high quality performance, confirming they’re one of the best musical revelations of 2009.

From the moment they took the stage, the band’s unique ethereal sound captured the venue’s attention and never let it go, naturally commanding silence from the crowd, the barmaid to whisper taking orders and a scattering of shhhhh’s here and there…. After a solemn opener ‘’Oh My God Charlie Darwin’’, the hour and a half set drifted from acoustic slow burnt ballads to more electrified groaning blues rock, a mix of songs from ‘OMGCD’, ‘What The Crow Brings’, new material and a few covers, a set engrained in the spirit of Americana heritage.

With the unassuming homemade feel of a jamming session, in front of a crowd of 2,000, Ben K. Miller, Jeff Pytrowsky and Jocie Adams switch between instruments from one song to another, moving from horns, upright bass, guitar and drums to a very unusual crotales. And if the tone and lyrics are often deep, sometimes mournful, it stands in contrast with a palpable sense of enjoyment on stage and the light mood floating in the venue. Proving that with large crowds you don’t have to be the loudest to grab one’s attention, the Low Anthem are the kind of band that leave you with the impression that making good music should be a simple thing….. And this is what defines talent.’
Ludovic Lacolonge

We’re running an exclusive competition with our friends at The Fly in the March issue where we’re giving away the guitar below signed by The Low Anthem plus many more special artists!

NYE 2009 in Manchester…a little thank you!

NYE 2009…

This New Year we celebrated the arrival of the “tenties” at the most awesome house party we’ve ever attended, hosted by Same Teens in support of Trekstock.

For one night only The Ruby Lounge, one of Manchester’s coolest clubs, was magically transformed in to a rather lovely house complete with a kitchen, bedrooms and even a back garden…

What’s more, like an Aladdin’s Cave, the most marvellous goodies were hidden around for our all party guests to take home and enjoy; beautiful vintage clothing in the bedroom wardrobe, not to mention a few Stella McCartney pieces hidden the mix; over in the kitchen a pair of Man Utd V Man City tickets were pinned up on the notice board and the fridge was filled with drinks and sweet snacks.  The Teenager’s bedroom was laden with funky Boxfresh goodies with any extra items hanging on the garden washing line. Even the ladies loos were adorned with free luxurious cosmetics, hair products and perfumes. Unsurprisingly, not one single thing was left behind!

DJ sets from Autokrats, Kleptones, Lowline and The Whip kept the party pumping all night long with Same Teens following the midnight gongs with Will Smiths ‘Willenium’. The crowd jumped on beds, danced, moved and mingled… and spotted amongst them were The Courteeners, Delphic and Twisted Wheel, as well as a couple of our favourite young Corrie stars!

The party rocked until 6am with a few savvy, hardcore revellers heading straight down the road for their pre-booked cooked breakfast. Mmmm!

Wow! What a fantastic night! And what a superb start to 2010. Here’s to a fabulous year ahead.

Many thanks to the following for all their hard work and support and for giving us the best New Year ever…
