Whether Trekstock is at a summer festival, a fashion week party or holding one of our own exclusive live music events... we understand how important it is for young people to have fun but also to take care.
Astonishingly, up to half of all cancer cases could be prevented by making lifestyle changes. We have found out through talking to our friends at Cancer Research UK that you can help reduce your chances of developing cancer later in life by:
- not smoking
- cutting back on alcohol
- keeping a healthy body weight
- eating a healthy, balanced diet (that is, one that's high in fibre, fruit and veg, and low in red and processed meat, saturated fat and salt)
- keeping physically active
- enjoying the sun safely
Protect your skin
Melanoma, the most serious type of skin cancer, is the third most common cancer in 15-24 year olds, accounting for 13% of all cancer cases diagnosed in this age group. And it's the most common cancer type in 15-34 year olds. Trekstock aims to help raise awareness of this, and the importance of enjoying the sun safely, through our presence at summer music festivals, interacting with young people in one of their favourite, yet potentially dangerous environments for their skin.
